Don’t Feed the Wild Fears

Look, we’ve both read a lot of books, right? Self-help, motivation, and so forth. In fact, if you’re like me, you’ve even made it a permanent sub-set of your lifestyle. So we read books. We attend seminars. We expose ourselves to all kinds of positive, uplifting input. And the advice we find there often comes down to some version of “Just Do It.” Well, that does sound logical. Simple, even. But isn’t it a shame how poorly that advice works out in real life?

How often, when you’re facing a big, difficult, daunting task, are you able to “just do it” and be confident going in that you’ve got it covered? If it’s less than 50%, then maybe we need to consider some kind of change in strategies.

Conversational Hypnosis at Your Front Door

Master Persuader

If you’re into conversational hypnosis, you’ll be familiar with most of what this young man, Kenny Brooks, is doing. But being familiar with a subject and being able to do it are two different things. Especially doing it at breakneck speed, the way we’re seeing it here.

In this short, 7-minute clip Brooks unleashes a torrent of pattern interrupts, reframes and compliance testing that is nearly unstoppable. This is a powerful confusion induction – plus it’s funny. You want to get really good at conversational hypnosis? Watch this clip. Then watch it again. And then again. It’s some of the best real-life training you’ll find.

But Not a Pet Pig

Problems ‘n Pigs ‘n Plain Common Sense

Life’s problems, puzzles and predicaments don’t come when we’re all set and braced and ready to deal with them. Nuh uh. They almost always come tippy-toeing up on our blind side and give us a quick kick or two before we even know what’s happening. And then without thinking, we’ll usually react to that kick, that sneak attack, with an instant, flat-footed response that may or may not make things better.

Downloading Intelligence

Knowledge Leaps From Mind to Mind

Got a nice, newsy email from long-time friend and charter member Russ the other day. In it he mentioned the idea of implanting new knowledge into the brain as in the film “The Matrix.”

Here’s a suggesting for future articles: I’m REALLY CURIOUS about this new concept of ‘downloading’ intelligence and then ‘uploading’ it again into a new body of our choosing. With all the advances in technology, I’m convinced that this is going to be a reality sometime within this century! I’m hoping it will be within the next 37 years – before I hit 100! Yeah… sign me up for that!

The Letter but Not the Spirit

So many purists who know the letter but not the spirit of what they’re trying to talk about … oh my my my

People who follow the law (and maybe some whom the law is following) talk about “the letter of the law versus the spirit of the law.”
